The Ministers Black Veil

The Ministers Black Veil is the same and different in many ways because it teaches a life lesson. In the story the minister wore a veil to try and cover up his face but really was covering his sin, but the only thing it did was make it ovious that he had a sin hanging over him and made him stand out to everyone. He wanted to show that he did something bad and make sure that people new the truth. Once he had the veil on he was being critizied and no one wanted to associate with him.
A parable is a short story that shows or teachs a moral lesson therefor this story is a parible. The story shows that you really have to look deep down in a person other then judge them by how they look or what they wear.
I like this story because it is different and teaches a lesson. Mr. Hooper, the minister wasn't afraid to show people that he had a sin and even though people treated him differently he stood his ground, even after losing his wife and friends. This story really shows that you have to really not care what people think and act for yourself

the scarlet ibes

Scarlet Ibis symbols, quotes, and sensory images The “Scarlet Ibis” is a great story to listen to and just close your eyes and imagine. It has sensory images left and right and the reader can see the whole story in their mind. In the “Scarlet Ibis” there there are a few main symbols such as “The Bleeding Tree,” “red,” and “Scarlet Ibis.” Red, is all over this story such as “Scarlet Ibis” “The Bleeding Tree,” and “He had been bleeding from the mouth, and his neck and the front of his shirt were stained a brilliant red.” The last sentence is textural evidence that Doodle died and it was a beautiful death was set up in just a way where it was not sound like any other death. They used it in a way where it seemed beautiful and right according to the wording it was “beautiful” and the very last sentence which says “For a long time, it seemed forever, I lay there crying, sheltering my fallen scarlet ibis.” This shows that it was a beautifully sad death and it moves the reader and gives a depressed feeling out. This short story was an fantastic example of perfect sensory images. it really spoke to the reader. if you were to listen to this story on a tape and just closed your eyes you can really picture the brilliant red and doodle. The wrighter really did an outstanding job.

Great Depression

Nearly a decade of sorrow and just utter darkness, this was the Great Depression. Tuesday, October 29, 1929, the day the stock market crashed and the official beginning of the Great Depression. The Great Depression was a period of time where the stock market crashed and a result of millions of good men jobless and thousands of banks and faculties to close.

Businesses and industry were also affected. Having lost much of their own capital in either the Stock Market Crash or the bank closures, many businesses started cutting back their workers' hours or wages. This is the reason so many people were without jobs. Because the magority of the Usa was without work and had little to none income, they were forced to cut back on luxury iteams or in other words things that they could go without. It was just one big vicious circle. Now some people say that farmers were not affected during this time because they could atleast feed there familes and friends but to make this whole thing worse at this point in time farmers were suffering from mass duststorms and drought.

Luckily near the 1930s Presedent Franklin Delano Roosevelt stepped in and some believe saved human from total doom. He created something called the New Deal. Now the New Deal was a number of acts and changes that increased enployment and accualy living a life.

The Overcoat

The Overcoat was a wierd story. A guy dedicated his life to buying this coat. This coat was one of a kind. It was the best you could buy. He sacriced everything for this coat. He saved up for a really long time to finally buy this coat. and when he did it got stolen. His coat was stolen after sacrifising everything and investing his life into buying this coat.

Walter Mitty

The story of Walter Mitty was very interesting. It was a different way of thinking. I think the conflict of this story was when walter had his day dreams. When he had these day dreams he became in and out of contiousness. When he had these he seemed to enter into a new world, a whole other demention if you will. This new world was everything he could ever imagine and more. This world was perfect. So perfect it was acually a curse because it made him never want to leave and exept reality. With every day dream it became harder and harder to come out and and relize reality.

Edger Allen Poe

Edger Allen Poe was a very interesting man. Do to complications he lived a very hard life. He was born on January 19, 1809 and lived untill October 7, 1849. so he lived a very short time but back then it was normal to die at a young age like that. Three years later his mom just happend to pass away. This left him without a mother at the age of three years old. Not to much later he bacame heavy into alchol. you could say he never lived a normal life, but who could with no mother, father and an alcholic. When he was a little bit older he started to right poems and short stories, but unfortunatly his hard life showed in his wrighting.

Edger Allen Poe was known for his very strange short stories. His past life affected the way he was wrighting now. He wrote stories like Tell Tale Heart witch many people thought to believe was relatible to his real life.
